Event Details:

Andrew Round is the Group Manager UK Central Hub at Solihull Council. As such he leads for the Council on the development and infrastructure projects that support making the UKC Hub one of the largest growth hubs in the UK around the proposed HS2 Interchange Station.

Andrew is a planner, surveyor and economist by background and has spent his career to date working at a senior level in both local government and the private sector including stints as the Assistant Director for Planning and Development at Birmingham City Council and as the Director of Place at Worcester City Council.

Before joining Solihull Council, he was a Senior Director in the Planning and Development Team at CBRE Birmingham advising both local authorities and private developers across the UK.

The UK Central Hub is one of the largest growth hubs in the UK. It already contains the NEC, Birmingham Airport, Birmingham Business Park and JLR’s Land Rover manufacturing plant.

The coming years will see the opening of the HS2 line and Interchange Station, continued expansion of the NEC and Airport alongside new development at Arden Cross and UK2 all of which will at least double its economic output.

Andrew will provide an overview on the background to the UKC Hub, its importance to the regional and local economy and how the major development and infrastructure projects within it will shape its future.
