Faculty of Building Golf Society

Message from Howard Gadd (Jan 2025):

Wishing you all good health, prosperity and success in 2026.
There was a general consensus that some courses we played last year were really worth a revisit and we have decided to repeat some events.

Following discussions with the event sponsor, the St George’s Day event planned to be played at the Woodhall Spa is cancelled and replaced with the Vantage Open Day in September. Those players registered are informed and are due to play at the Woodhall Spa in September and many more will be registering soon, being sure to join them. The Hodgkin course is amongst the best in England.

Kindest regards
Howard

The Yorkshire Challenge, May 2026

Martyn Howie reports on the day’s golf.

“Great to return to a sunny Oakdale Golf Club in Harrogate for our annual pre-conference golf day. Teams and attendees from across the country played in a friendly fourball format where every player had to “really” contribute to post a competitive score. All par three and par five holes required all four players to score!

The co-sponsored HDS and HEA team ended up victorious with a score of 109 points. The range of scores was from 82 to 109 points.

Nearest the pin was won by Tom Salter of Hawkswell Kilvington playing in the Appleyard and Trew team

A big thank you to Chris Sunderland of Diales for his continued support again lining up several guests for our FoBGS event”.

On behalf of our Society our thanks to Martyn for his contribution to the day and the support of all the sponsored teams as well as FoB individuals.
