FBE NATIONAL EXPANSION
Strengthening coverage across the North, Central and South
As part of the 2026 fbe membership benefits programme, fbe is developing a national expansion approach to strengthen coverage across North, Central, and South regions. The aim is to make the network easier to access regionally while keeping national activity aligned, consistent, and well supported.
What National Expansion means
National expansion is about making the fbe network work better across the whole of the UK - not just in areas where activity has historically been strongest. It is about:
Building more consistent national activity at a regional level.
Supporting delivery through local leadership and volunteer teams.
Improving access to events, relationships, and opportunities across the UK.
Reducing reliance on any single geography or small group to sustain national activity.
How it will work
We are developing a structure that distributes responsibility sensibly and allows the network to grow without overloading the volunteers who already give their time to make fbe run. The approach includes:
A central steering group to maintain oversight, consistency, and national alignment.
Regional sub-committees across North and South to support local delivery.
A coordinated national calendar that reflects regional activity and avoids clashes.
This is designed to be practical - spreading the workload, enabling growth, and giving regional contributors a clear and valued role within the wider national structure.
As the expansion develops, members across the UK should benefit from:
Stronger national event coverage across regions.
Better access to national activity, partnerships, and opportunities.
Clearer routes for local volunteers to contribute to the national network.
Improved visibility of what is happening across the UK - and how to get involved.
What this unlocks for members
Where we’re focusing
The national committee has identified a clear need to strengthen activity and representation in the South, while also supporting growth and structure in other regions where there is momentum and demand.
Regional updates will be published as sub-committees form and pilot activity is confirmed. If your region isn't yet covered, that's exactly the kind of gap we're looking to address - get in touch.
Get involved
We're looking for members who want to help grow fbe activity in their region. Whether that's through organising, hosting, sponsorship support, or sitting on a regional sub-committee - if you have strong local connections and want to contribute, we'd love to hear from you
