FBE COLLABORATE

Member co-ops and joint initiatives across the built environment

FBE Collaborate is a 2026 initiative designed to increase member value by building structured collaboration with aligned professional bodies across the built environment. The focus is practical: joint events, reciprocal access, stronger CPD activity, and improved corporate engagement - delivered through pilots and scaled once proven.

What is FBE Collaborate

FBE Collaborate is a framework for co-branded, mutually beneficial joint initiatives with professional bodies and membership organisations that have complementary strengths. It is about cooperation that adds genuine value - not duplication, not dilution.

Collaboration can include:

  • Reciprocal invitations and shared regional event calendars.

  • Co-branded events - CPD seminars, networking socials, conferences, and site visits.

  • Joint learning and education activity.

  • Young professional development and mentoring through fft and partner youth groups.

  • Combined corporate partnership opportunities.

  • Shared thought leadership and sector campaigns where appropriate.

Why we’re doing this

Members benefit when strong networks cooperate. Collaboration expands the rooms members can access, improves the variety and quality of events, strengthens professional development, and increases the corporate value proposition. It's a high-leverage way to add value without duplicating what other bodies already do well.

Organisations we are connecting with

We are actively building relationships and exploring collaboration opportunities with a range of aligned bodies across the sector, including:

  • CIOB - Chartered Institute of Building

  • WCC - Worshipful Company of Constructors

  • CIBSE - Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers

  • Engineering Council

  • FMB - Federation of Master Builders

  • ICM - Institute of Construction Management

  • RIBA - Royal Institute of British Architects

  • RICS - Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors

  • CIAT - Chartered Institute of Architectural Technicians

…and other built environment aligned bodies where collaboration can deliver clear member benefits. Some collaborations are in early discussion; others are progressing into pilots. We will only publish detailed partner activity once it is confirmed.

What Members can expect

As collaborations are confirmed, members can expect access to:

  • Joint and co-branded events at local and national level.

  • Expanded networking reach through partner audiences.

  • CPD-style learning opportunities and education-led sessions.

  • Improved corporate engagement opportunities.

  • Occasional joint insight pieces and sector initiatives.

How we deliver collaboration

To protect member value and avoid overextension, all collaborations follow three principles:

  1. Pilot first - prove value in one region or format before scaling.

  2. Clear branding - co-branded activity that doesn't blur either organisation's identity.

  3. Operational clarity - agreed roles, delivery ownership, and clean logistics from the start.
