fbe began life as the Faculty - a learned society founded in 1946 to bring built environment professionals together to connect, share knowledge, and raise standards. In 2026, we're relaunching Faculty Membership as a curated tier for influential professionals who want deeper connection, stronger rooms, and a clear route to contribute to the network and the next generation.
What is Faculty Membership?
Faculty Membership is a curated tier within fbe designed for professionals who want a more intentional relationship with the network - not just attendance, but contribution, mentorship, and higher-quality connection.
It sits alongside existing fbe membership and fft activity, strengthening the whole-career journey across the community. The relaunch is designed to deliver two clear outcomes:
1. Curated, high-quality connection
A membership tier focused on leadership-level conversation, sector insight, and stronger professional relationships - for those who want more from the network than a standard membership provides.
2. Contribution and mentorship
A clear route for Faculty members to support the next generation through mentoring, insight-sharing, and active involvement with fft and the FBE Academy. This includes re-engaging experienced voices who have drifted away from the network, as well as welcoming high-performing professionals who want a meaningful way to contribute.
Faculty Status and Post-nominal Letters
The Faculty relaunch is linked to reintroducing Faculty status and the use of post-nominal letters associated with standing within the organisation. This is subject to final confirmation and governance sign-off. Further details will be published as part of the final Faculty framework.
