FFT is excited to host an urban design walking tour and networking evening in Manchester!
This time, we’re heading outdoors to explore Castlefield, one of the city’s most historically rich and dynamically evolving neighbourhoods. Whether you’re passionate about cities, architecture, or just keen to see Manchester from a fresh perspective, this is the perfect midweek reset.
We’re thrilled to be joined by Dr. Catalina Ionita (PhD), expert urban designer and Senior Architect at Chapman Taylor. Catalina will lead us through Castlefield’s layered history—from Roman foundations to industrial-era infrastructure—while sharing insights on how this heritage-rich area is being reimagined through contemporary urban design. With a focus on placemaking, public space, and regeneration, the tour offers a thought-provoking experience for urbanists at all levels.
Meet at 6:00 PM at the Blackfriar Pub, with the walking tour starting promptly at 6:15 PM and lasting around 60 minutes.
After the tour, we’ll head to our reserved space at The Wharf in Castlefield for relaxed drinks and informal networking. Join fellow creatives, planners, designers, and built environment professionals in a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Your ticket includes a complimentary drink and nibbles.
This is a great chance to connect with others who care about shaping better cities—while enjoying one of Manchester’s most iconic neighbourhoods.
All are welcome—students, professionals, members, and non-members of all backgrounds.
Spaces are limited, so book now and join us for an inspiring evening of walking, learning, and connecting!
