Event Details:
Portland Works is the place where stainless steel was first made into cutlery, so is a really important part of Sheffield’s heritage.
At the same time, keeping it is as a space for smaller scale ‘makers’ keeps the buildings and the meaning of the works as a living, breathing hub for creativity and manufacturing.
Please join us for a tour of Portland works, a non-profit community interest company dedicated to maintaining the Grade II* buildings and providing space for small makers, and the opportunity to keep tradition skills and trades alive. As such it relies very heavily on volunteers, donations and grants to keep everything going.
After the tour there will be an opportunity to catch up and network over complimentary G&T's (plus other drinks) from Loxley Distillery. We look forward to seeing you.
The buildings are a constant ‘work in progress’ and different repair / restoration projects are always being undertaken and planned.
£2 from each attendee ticket will go to the works with FBE Sheffield making this up to £10 per attendee.
