A big coup for fbe Liverpool members and guests next month as we prepare to welcome Alice Taylor from the Centre for Construction Best Practice. In this presentation, we will introduce CCBP’s Constructing Certainty research, examining how the timing of contractor appointment affects outcomes across 412 public-sector construction projects delivered by 55 contractors. We will explore the relationship between Early Contractor Involvement and cost and programme certainty, risk management, buildability, supply-chain input, sustainability and wider value, including the clear change in performance when appointment moves beyond RIBA Stage 2. We will finish by outlining the report’s recommendations for embedding earlier involvement, strengthening public-sector capability, and moving procurement beyond lowest-price decision-making.
