Recognising the volunteers who make fbe branches work

fbe and fft branch committee members give significant time planning events, building local networks, and keeping built environment communities running across the UK. We're formalising a consistent national discount structure to recognise that contribution fairly and simply.

What’s already agreed


Following direct feedback from branch committees, national leadership has approved the following baseline:

  • All active committee members qualify for a discount.

  • Minimum 25% off annual membership fees.

  • A consistent approach across all fbe and fft branch committees.

For context, standard fbe annual membership is £190 + VAT. A 25% discount reduces this to £142.50 + VAT.

What this means for you


If you're an active committee member:

  • You should expect a minimum 25% discount on your annual membership.

  • If you renew before the final framework is issued, discounts can be applied retrospectively where applicable.

What we’re finalising


The Board is confirming a unified committee discount framework that will set out:

  • A clear qualification criteria for active committee membership.

  • A simple renewal process - no manual chasing, no branch-by-branch negotiation.

  • Consistent treatment across all branches and committees.

We will publish the final framework once confirmed and notify branch chairs directly

Why this matters


Different branches have historically operated different practices - some roles received free membership, others a partial discount, others paid in full. We're moving away from that inconsistency and towards a single fair national standard that reflects the real contribution committee members make.
