This morning networking session will cover three environmental and sustainability topics:

- Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Modelling – Mark Pearce MCIHT, Hydrock
- Legislation Amendments in Overheating & Noise – James Healey, AESG
- The Unintended Consequences of Net Zero Siloes – Jonathan Riggall, Stantec

Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Modelling

Whether you are a private investor, asset owner/operator, Local Authority or charge point operator, EV charging infrastructure represents major investment.
The nature of this fast-emerging market has meant that until now, decisions that may be worth £millions are being made without real insights, leading to unnecessary risk and expense.
To address this evidence gap, Hydrock has developed StratEV.
StratEV is the only modelling tool of its kind and works by drawing together data regarding usage, power demand and revenue, enabling EV charging developers to provide the most efficient solutions in terms of reducing cost and maximising future utilisation.
StratEV helps our clients to:
• Future proof car-parking (on- and off-street)
• Step away from naïve prediction techniques
• Predict day-one and future charging usage
• Assess power consumption
• Review revenue scenarios
• Evidence proposed levels of provision (considering local policy requirements)
• Optimise energy usage alongside other on-site demand (e.g. existing / proposed buildings).

Legislation Amendments in Overheating and Noise

On 15 December 2021 the government released revisions to Approved Document L and F and new Approved Documents O and S. For several years James has been at the forefront of thinking in the industry on how to deal with overheating and noise holistically, leading to him co-authoring a national guidance document on the subject. In Approved Document O, noise is an intrinsic consideration in how to deal with the control of overheating. The document he co-authored, the Acoustics, Ventilation and Overheating Guide, is now referenced in Approved Document O as a guide for noise control.
This technical presentation aims to provide an overview of the changes and what these may mean for the design of residential development in England from 15 June 2022.

The Unintended Consequences of Net Zero Siloes

Jonathan Riggall, climate solutions leader at Stantec will talk to the relationship between the National net zero goals, and the unintended consequences of sectoral siloes in actioning decarbonisation at a project level.
