Please join fbe Sheffield at Sheffield Forgemasters for lunch and an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the UK’s largest open die forge!

The origins of Sheffield Forgemasters date back to the 1750s as a small blacksmith forge, and today they are capable of producing the largest and most technically challenging cast and forged steel components in the world. As part of their site-wide recapitalisation programme to produce a new level of technological advancements and production facilities in support of the UK’s defence programmes, Sheffield Forgemasters have partnered with VINCI Building to deliver the UK’s largest open die forge.

Following a complex demolition and enabling works package, piling for the foundations and base of the 13,800m² building within a 150 meters x 84 meters footprint are complete. VINCI Building’s complex civil engineering works are ongoing, including major excavations and concrete pours to support a new 13,000 tonne heavy forging press, furnaces, quenching pits and cranes.

The event includes networking over a sandwich lunch, a presentation from VINCI Building on the New Forge Building project and a guided site tour to explore a site that combines centuries of heritage with modern innovation.

Full PPE is required for the visit. Please bring your own hard hat, safety boots, hi-vis vest, gloves and goggles if you can, but some may be available on site if you are unable to - please confirm when booking.

Complimentary parking is available at VINCI Building’s Weedon Street Car Park (What3Words///curving.reader.mouth) less than 5 mins walk from their site office at Sheffield Forgemasters, Units 1 – 4, 800, Brightside Lane, Sheffield, S9 2RX (What3words///powers.flame.offer).
