Target Zero Breakfast Seminar Huge Success

The FFT Yorkshire continued it's run of successful events with a breakfast seminar on Target Zero, guest speaker Ewan Jones from Aecom's sustainability team in Leeds provided an overview of the study which was carried out to ascertain the most cost effective way of achieving a zero carbon rating on a variety of buildings.

Target Zero was conceived at a time when energy reduction targets were being set, but there was little practical guidance available to help practitioners achieve their aims. The study aims to develop knowledge that is provided freely for practitioners to apply to their specific roles.

Ewan's presentation touched on the difficulty in practice of achieving the carbon omissions targets set across the industry. Looking at School, warehouse, supermarket, office and mixed use projects to ensure the study provided a spread of the construction industry.

The event was sponsored by Aecom's sustainability team in Leeds and attracted over 25 people from various professions within the construction industry.

With a mixture of informative breakfast seminars and unique social evening networking events now organised up to August 2011 the FFT Yorkshire is always looking for new young professionals to get involved.
