Construction professionals from across the East Midlands gathered at The City Rooms in Leicester last week for the inaugural 'Forum for the Built Environment (fbe) Awards and Chairman's Dinner'. The awards were designed to celebrate construction projects across the region and recognise the teams behind the schemes.
Taking first place in the Nottinghamshire scheme and team category was Albany House, a £8.5m ExtraCare housing scheme in Nottingham. The award was collected by social housing provider, LHA-ASRA; civil engineers, BSP Consulting and Allan Joyce Architects Ltd
Sponsored by Southdale Ltd, the Nottinghamshire scheme and team award recognised Albany House's commitment to the provision of ExtraCare facilities in Nottinghamshire.
Adrienne Vaughan, fbe East Midlands director and chairman, commented: "The awards were intended to be an antidote to typical award ceremonies. We wanted to recognise the best construction projects from across the region, the teamwork behind the schemes and the positive impact of the development to both the community and the industry but with a 'light touch'. The awards reflect what fbe is all about, working with like-minded people."
Other winners from across the region included the SHINE-ZC, a code six housing development in Derby; The Wolsey Building, ExtraCare housing on Abbey Park Road in Leicester and the Red Lion Quarter, retail and office space in Spalding, Lincolnshire.
In addition to the awards, a total of £1,250 was donated to the Chairman's chosen charity, the NSPCC Child's Voice Appeal, which directly helps East Midlands' children.
