With 32 representatives from the North East, Wales, Bristol, Manchester, Yorkshire, London and East Anglia it was great to see the fbe coming together for a truly national event.
The weather certainly tamed many of us with the strong blustery wind catching us out on many of the holes along with the abundance of bunkers and general rough. Little Aston is a first class golf course and was in fabulous condition for the time of the year but it is a very difficult golf course and the level of scoring reflected this.
The score card is attached with all the scores on and winners etc. Congratulations again to all the prize winners and in particular Mike Birchall and David Taylor from the North West who played superbly well. Mike, who also won the individual competition yesterday has now won the team prize 2 years running and I can assure you that his handicap will be adjusted accordingly at next year's competition.
This is the 5th year that we have held a national golf competition and having been at the Belfry, Forest of Arden and Little Aston we have certainly experienced the best of the Midlands golf courses. We are looking to change the format slightly for next year so watch this space. Any feedback and suggestions from competitors and branch officials would therefore be most welcome.
Our next National event will be the annual luncheon at the House of Lords in December which begins the celebrations for our 65th year.
