Andrew Harrison, Managing Director of Manchester Airport Group, was the guest speaker at the Manchester Branch's first event of 2011 which took place on January 20th at the Freemasons Hall.

Andrew led the £50m redevelopment of Terminal 1, completed in 2009 (as well as the development of Terminal 2 and other commercial redevelopment opportunities across the airport), and presented a fascinating insight into the early thought processes which led to the transformation of Terminal 1 and the significant impact that the project has made in terms of customer experience.

The presentation also included a very interesting overview of capital expenditure plans at the Airport. Following the presentation Andrew answered a number of questions from the floor covering a range of topics relating to the Airport's operations.

An audience of over 90 attended the presentation which was very well received and a great way for the fbe Manchester Branch to start the year.

Branch Chairman, Geoff Woods, closed proceedings by outlining the range of future events which the fbe will be organising  throughout 2011, further details of which are available on the events page.

Despite the economic climate, 2010 was a good year for the fbe with a growth in membership and new appointments to the Manchester Branch Committee. We look forward to another positive and enjoyable year in 2011 and would like to thank all members for your continued support!
