Once again Kent Branch played host to an enthralling and thoroughly interesting speaker in Phil Eckersley, South of England agent for the Bank of England.
Phil's day-to-day role focuses on understanding local businesses within the South East, and the impact that the Bank of England's activities, and indeed the wider economy, places on those businesses. "As such, Phil delivered a highly informative, 'off-the-record' overview as to the status of the economy and the current recession, providing our gathering with a true lesson in economics including explanations as to what has happened and why, together with an insight into how the Bank of England and UK Government are working to regenerate the economy. Phil also fielded a range of questions from the audience, culminating in a strawpoll to gain a feel for the outlook of the UK's economy from the construction industry's perspective – with the response being a resounding positive to the future."
