Lynne Wellington, Committee Member of Great Western branch has organised a new initiative. On the 22nd June an exclusive, members' only lunch was held at Jack's Brasserie in Harbourside, Bristol. Members were asked to bring a client along to enjoy the networking opportunity and fifty members and guests enjoyed a delicious two course lunch. Following the lunch, Guest Speaker, Bonnie Dean CEO of Bristol Science Park, talked about the strategic aims of the Science Park for Bristol and the region. She also spoke about the progress made in attracting inward investment to the South West with a strong emphasis on science & technology and Bristol as the potentially new 'Silicon City'.
The Bristol & Bath Science Park is one of 6 TICs – Technology Innovation Centres – recently announced by Government. Spark One includes an Innovation Centre, Growth Space and The Forum – space which is designed to specifically appeal to technology-based organisations. The Park is also home to the new National Composites Centre.
This new initiative was extremely well received and will become a regular event for the Great Western Branch.
