Last night's East Midlands Chairman's Awards Dinner was a great success.
Over 70 FBE members and guests (a record number!) gathered in Leicester's The City Rooms for an event which encompassed a cocktail reception; presentation of the East Midlands Scheme & Team Awards shortlist; a sumptuous dinner followed by the Awards Ceremony - a real red carpet event complete with paparazzi scrabbling for photos of the winners - well, Peter our photographer was! And then literally nearly the whole room, dancing around one handbag to the amazingly, brilliant local band Friday Street.
The stunning ballroom was truly buzzing, and the sincerity of the delight and pride of our winners was a real pleasure to see, especially as the awards encompassed the whole development team, meaning contractors, engineers, housing associations and local authorities et al walked the red carpet together to collect their glittering, cut crystal icebergs engraved with the winner's name.
For those that couldn't make it to the awards dinner last night and as a reminder to those that were there – see below for the results of the inaugural fbe East Midlands Awards:
Derbyshire: SHINE-ZC – a zero carbon housing development in the heart of Derby
Leicestershire:The Wolsey Building – £10m regeneration project in Belgrave to provide 103 ExtraCare apartments

Nottinghamshire: Albany House – £8.5m ExtraCare housing scheme comprising 71 apartments, featuring green roof technology
Overall Winner: SHINE-ZC – a unanimous decision!
Let's do it all again on 25th October 2012, shall we?
